Announcing The Gleanweb Fund
For sixteen years, Gleanweb has provided free websites for gleaning organizations that collectively rescued more than 32,000,000 pounds of food. And now the focus is changing from making websites to providing financial support for start-up and fledgling gleaning organizations. The Gleanweb Fund has been established for that purpose. Ideal candidates for grants of up to $5,000 match the following criteria:
1. Have current IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
2. Are in the early phase of operation – probably five years or less.
3. Have shown a track record, however brief, of regular gleaning operations with reasonable expectations and plans for continuing.
4. Can describe community support for the organization.
5. Can substantiate a sufficient potential volunteer pool and food donors in the area.
6. Include how much they are requesting and how they plan to use the funds.
The application process is being kept as informal as possible: simply send an email to Dick at dyates@gleanweb.org that covers the criteria listed here plus any other information that you think is relevant. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and considered as funds allow.
